Why didn’t I notice the strong undercurrents of feminism in this book when I first read it 20 years ago? Kate Chopin was definitely ahead of her time (or I was definitely behind it). I’m enjoying her book more on second reading.

Troegs - Perpetual IPA (Imperial Pale Ale)

Troegs goes all out with this one:

“Perpetual IPA utilizes our hopback and dry-hopping to engineer a bold Imperial Pale Ale. Perpetual IPA is 7.5% ABV and 85 IBUs. It features Bravo, Chinook and Mt. Hood hops in the boil, Mt. Hood and Nugget hops in the hopback and Citra, Cascade and Nugget hops in dry-hopping.”

The aroma from this is quite nice, lots of citrus dominates with a touch of sweet mango in the background. The 85 IBUs in this hits pretty hard to the palate, a powerful bitterness that I only think the hop heads will tolerate. From there the flavor and taste are all present in the mouth; tons of hop character, more of that citrus, a ‘lil juicy, and fairly dry. I’d say the flavor is lacking slightly considering the hopback and dry hopping, but none-the-less, this is solid and worth the time.

Bottom Line: Drink it! Dominating Bitterness, Big Hops, Citrus, Hop Forward, Dry
